MEETING MINUTES
CALL TO ORDER:
The February 2018 Board Meeting of the Northwest Choral Society was held on February 13th, 2018 at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, 766 Graceland Ave. Des Plaines, IL. The meeting was called to order at 6:38 PM by NWCS President Penny Perles. The following board members were present:

MEETING MINUTES:
The meeting minutes from the January 8th meeting were reviewed and were approved with the following change to be made: The number of pieces that each of the finalists will provide for the June concert is to be removed. The search committee did not limit them by number of pieces but by overall time allotment. Noreen LaValle made a motion to accept the January meeting minutes with the aforementioned change. David Hitch seconded the motion. The motion passed.
TREASURER’S REPORT:
Noreen LaValle presented the treasurer’s report for October 2017. Cash disbursements totaled $679.35. Cash receipts totaled $0. Our regular account now has $16,007.28. Including petty cash, our final total was $16,042.28. Mary Jane Matecki made a motion to accept the treasurer’s report. The motion was seconded by Angela Carlson. The motion passed.
Noreen LaValle presented the treasurer’s report for November 2017. Cash disbursements totaled $821.51. Cash receipts totaled $9,748.24. Our regular account now has $24,934.01. Including petty cash, our final total was $24,969.01. Mary Jane Matecki made a motion to accept the treasurer’s report. The motion was seconded by Angela Carlson. The motion passed.
Noreen LaValle presented the treasurer’s report for December 2017. Cash disbursements totaled $5,383.06. Cash receipts totaled $17,867.00. Our regular account now has $37,417.95. Including petty cash, our final total was $37,452.95. Mary Jane Matecki made a motion to accept the treasurer’s report. The motion was seconded by Angela Carlson. The motion passed.
Noreen LaValle presented the treasurer’s report for January 2018. Cash disbursements totaled $3,583.47. Cash receipts totaled $1,599.00. Our regular account now has $35,433.48. Including petty cash, our final total was $35,568.48. Mary Jane Matecki made a motion to accept the treasurer’s report. The motion was seconded by Angela Carlson. The motion passed.
SEARCH COMMITTEE:
Both finalists provided their chosen list of pieces for the June concert. Guillermo Munoz’s theme is American choral music. Emerson Eads’s theme is Bernstein and Sondheim.
Each of the finalists will write their own program notes.
Mary Jane will speak with Guillermo about removing the Sacred Americana section of his program in order to add a few pieces that are more contemporary.
Kristie will work on a title for the June concert.
We will extend an invitation to the 2 finalists to attend our April concert.
PROMOTIONS:
For the April concert, 130 Adult tickets and 180 Senior/Student tickets will be ordered.
NEW BUSINESS:
Lori will be able to make the Saturday rehearsal on May 19th.
The board decided to give Lori an extra stipend of $395 for all her hard work with respect to the guest directors and search committee. Mary Jane Matecki made a motion to provide Lori with the bonus stipend. Noreen LaValle seconded the motion. The motion passed.
Larissa created the the poster for the April concert.
We have 100% member participation in our annual support fund.
The April concert fundraiser will be at Potbelly in Schaumburg on April 13th.
For the March Saturday rehearsal the sopranos and basses will provide the food. Altos and tenors will provide the food for June concert Saturday rehearsal.
June 20-23, 2018 is the June Convention for Chorus America hosted in Chicago. It was proposed to fund a few people from our choir to attend including our new director.
Tickets will be ready on the last Tuesday of February.
NEXT MEETING:
Our next Board Meeting will be Tuesday, March 13th, 2018, at First Congregational United Church of Christ.
ADJOURNMENT:
The Board Meeting was adjourned at 7:28 PM by a motion from Noreen LaValle and a second from Karl Dahlstrom. The motion passed.
