& ELECTION OF BOARD MEMBERS
MEETING MINUTES
April 29, 2014
CALL TO ORDER:
The Annual Meeting of the Whole and the Election of Board Members Meeting of the Northwest Choral Society was held at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church, 1095 Dempster/Thacker, Des Plaines, IL. The meeting was called to order at 9:47 PM by NWCS Board President Penny Perles.
ELECTION OF BOARD MEMBERS:
Board member John Schindler introduced the five present board members whose terms have expired, but have agreed to run again for the 2014 – 2016 term (2 year term): David Hitch, Mary Jane Matecki, Penny Perles, Diane Szuberla and Ruta Veitmanis.
Three new chorus members have agreed to serve on the board for a two year term: Meredith Bechtel, Tammi Lothson and Robyn Waldman-Borek. John then opened nominations to the general membership, but no more names were forthcoming. Nominations were closed.
John made a motion to accept the above list of eight candidates. Greykell Dutton seconded the motion. By voice vote of “aye” from the members present, the above list of candidates was elected to the board of NWCS. There were no “nay” votes.
COMMITTEE CHAIRPERSON REPORTS:
Board President Penny handed out several reports (See attached):
◦ A progress report of the goals chosen by Board members during meetings last summer.
◦ Treasurer Noreen Lavelle’s report of our Profit & Loss Budget vs. Actual – July 2013 through March 2014.
◦ Ticket chairperson Diane Szuberla’s report of our December 2013 concert ticket sales results.
Membership chairperson Greykell described her duties. She answers e-mails from people inquiring about joining us and keeps contact with them if they do not immediately join us. She is also in charge of our August Meet & Greet. One of our main goals last year was to get more male singers. We only succeeded in gaining one new male singer. She encouraged everyone to help with this goal.
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Our end of year party will be May 13th here at St. Martin’s. It will be potluck. Please sign the list for the items you would like to bring.
The rehearsal schedule for our Minneapolis concert trip is available. The first rehearsal will be May 20th here at St. Martin’s.
Alan is directing a concert this weekend. Penny will send us the details in her Friday announcements.
Our May 10th concert call will probably be 6:00 PM.
ADJOURNMENT:
The meeting was adjourned at 10:05 PM by a motion from Noreen and a second from Mary Jane. The motion passed.
