NORTHWEST CHORAL SOCIETY
MEETING OF THE WHOLE
October 15, 2013
CALL TO ORDER:
A Meeting of the Whole of the Northwest Choral Society was held at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church, 1095 Dempster/Thacker, Des Plaines, IL. The meeting was called to order at 9:01 PM by NWCS Board President Penny Perles.
PURPOSE OF THE MEETING:
The purpose of the meeting was to vote on several changes to our By-Laws:
Section II Mission Statement.
A new sentence will be added to our Mission Statement and some additional words will be added to the original sentence: “Northwest Choral Society believes that music transforms our lives, develops creativity and musical expression and unites all people into a community. We draw upon singers from the greater Chicago area with the purpose of performing a diverse repertory of the highest caliber for the joy, enrichment, and education of our membership and our audiences.”
Section III Vision Statement.
The Vision Statement will be deleted, thus changing the numbering of all following sections:
Section III Membership, Section IV Board of Directors, Section V Officers, and
Section VI Duties of the Officers.
Section VII Meetings. (Originally Section VIII)
The time to hold the Annual Meeting of the Society will be changed. The new statement will read:
“The Annual Meeting of the Society shall take place before the end of each fiscal year for the purpose of………”.
The remaining sections will also be renumbered: Section VIII The Rules of Order, Section IX Procedure for Amendment and Section X Dissolution.
These proposed changes were made available to members three weeks before this meeting.
VOTING:
Ruta Veitmanis made a motion to accept the proposed changes to the By-Laws as presented in writing to members. Dan Dorman seconded the motion. By ‘aye’ voice vote of the Society members present, these changes to the By-Laws were accepted. There were no ‘nay’ votes.
ADJOURNMENT:
The Meeting of the Whole was adjourned at 9:03 PM by a motion from Noreen LaValle and a second from Mary Jane Matecki. The motion passed.
