SPECIAL MEETING OF THE WHOLE
MEETING MINUTES
September 18, 2012
CALL TO ORDER:
A Special Meeting of the Whole of the Northwest Choral Society was held at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church, 1095 Dempster/Thacker, Des Plaines, IL. The meeting was called to order at 8:55 PM by NWCS Board President Penny Perles.
ACCEPTANCE OF CHANGES TO NWCS BY-LAWS:
This Special Meeting of the Whole was called in order to ask chorus members to ratify changes to our by-laws. These changes were presented to the membership in writing on September 4th:
SECTION II. MISSION STATEMENT
Northwest Choral Society draws upon singers from the greater Chicago area with the purpose of performing a diverse repertory for the joy, enrichment, and education of our membership and our audiences.
SECTION III. VISION STATEMENT
Northwest Choral Society will:
Develop marketing tools and strategies
Promote performances with other local musical groups
Commission a work dedicated to NWCS.
In Sections IV, V and VI, all mentions of Music Director will be changed to Artistic Director.
Noreen LaValle made a motion to accept the changes to the by-laws as presented. David Hitch seconded the motion. By a unanimous show of hands of the 41 members present, the by-law changes were accepted.
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Advertisement packets are ready. Noreen suggested that, although usually we ask business owners to pay for ads in our program books, if you have a business you really like and would recommend to others, you might consider paying for the advertisement yourself. Each person who places an ad receives two free gift tickets for any of our three concerts.
Penny announced a Sound of Music sing along at the Mount Prospect Public Library and Alan Wellman announced a Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Chorus performance of Carmina Burana this Friday evening at Millenium Park.
Our Saturday rehearsal this session will be November 17th.
ADJOURNMENT:
The meeting was adjourned at 9:03 PM by a motion from Noreen and a second from Mary Jane Matecki. The motion passed.
