CALL  TO  ORDER:
The Annual Meeting of the Whole and the Election of Board Members Meeting of the Northwest Choral Society was held at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church, 1095 Dempster/Thacker, Des Plaines, IL.  The meeting was called to order at 12:28 PM by NWCS Board President Penny Perles.

ELECTION  OF  BOARD  MEMBERS:
Nominating Committee chairperson, Noreen LaValle, thanked the three board members who will not be returning next year for their years of service on the board: Jonna Guendling, John Morrison and Chris Stukel.
Five of the present board members’ terms have expired, but they have agreed to run again for the 2012 – 2014 term (2 year term): David Martin, Mary Jane Matecki, Penny Perles, Diane Szuberla and Ruta Veitmanis.
Two new chorus members have agreed to serve on the board: John Schindler for a one year term and David Hitch for the full two year term.  Noreen then opened nominations to the general membership, but no names were forthcoming.
Mary Jane then made a motion to accept the above list of seven candidates.  Candy Mealer seconded the motion. By voice vote of “aye” from the members present, the above list of candidates was elected to the board of NWCS.  There were no “nay” votes.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Noreen presented the Profit and Loss Budget vs. Actual report for July 2011 through May 2012.  (The report is attached at the end of the minutes.)
Diane present our ticket sales report from last year’s June concerts through this year’s March concert.  The full report follows at the end of the minutes.
David Martin stated that we had 50 members last year and have 50 members now.  However, we lost 10 members, who we were able to replace with 10 new members.  He also sited all the methods that he uses to recruit new members.
Alan Wellman covered three main points:
◦  He introduced our new mission and vision statements, which set our goals for the next three years.  He explained the importance of each point.
Mission Statement:
Northwest Choral Society draws upon singers from the greater Chicago area with the purpose of performing a diverse repertory for the joy, enrichment, and education of our membership and our audiences.
Vision Statement:
Northwest Choral Society will:
Develop marketing tools and strategies
Promote performances with other local musical groups
Commission a work dedicated to NWCS.
 ◦  Alan also emphasized the importance of engaging new donors and keeping former donors.  We cannot support our organization with only membership dues and ticket sales.  He again thanked Jane Peterson for the wonderful donor recognition party she organized after our March concert.
◦  Preparations for the World Choir Games are in full swing.  Alan has now received most of the music we will be singing.
Penny stated that two of the important goals for next year’s concert season are the new women’s concert wear and the recruiting of new donors.  She also reminded members that updated budget reports and board meeting minutes are available on our website.
Penny also thanked Lori Lyn Mackie, our Collaborative Pianist and Assistant Music Director, and Alan Wellman, our Music Director, for their work with us this past concert season.

ADJOURNMENT:
The meeting was adjourned at 1:03 PM by a motion from Noreen and a second from Barbara Stewart.  The motion passed.
