NORTHWEST CHORAL SOCIETY
MEETING MINUTES
August 8th, 2017

CALL TO ORDER:
The August 2017 Board Meeting of the Northwest Choral Society was held on August 8th, 2017 at the Mount Prospect Public Library, 10 S. Emerson St., Mt Prospect, IL. The meeting was called to order at 7:09 PM by NWCS President Penny Perles. The following board members were present:

MEETING MINUTES:
The meeting minutes from the July meeting were reviewed and approved. Diane Szuberla made a motion to accept the July meeting minutes as written. The motion was seconded by David Hitch. The motion passed.

TREASURER’S REPORT:
Noreen LaValle presented the treasurer’s report for July 2017. Cash disbursements totaled $395.00. Cash receipts totaled $108.22. Our regular account now has $14,935.14. Including petty cash, our final total was $14,970.14. Mary Jane Matecki made a motion to accept the treasurer’s report. The motion was seconded by Angela Carlson. The motion passed.

BUDGET OVERVIEW:
Penny Perles presented the July 2017 to June 2018 budget. Karl Dahlstrom made a motion to accept the 2017-2018 budget. The motion was seconded by Noreen LaValle.

SEARCH COMMITTEE:
The search committee has received 16 applications.
The search committee will have a meeting next Tuesday to review the received resumes.
Penny and Mary Jane will write a letter to the choir to explain that we may need to have extra rehearsals in order to allow all the final applicants to have their audition rehearsals.

FACILITIES:
Mary Jane will send out a description of the responsibilities of the facilities manager to see who would like to take over this role from John Schindler.

OLD BUSINESS:
Julie put a NWCS display in the Arlington Heights library.
Welcome Back Open House at 6:00 PM on September 5th, 2017.
The choir should bring “Let the River Run” and “How can I keep from singing”
The choir members can bring treats to share.
Members of the board met with the new guest conductor Will and worked with him on the December concert program. The music for the December concert will be $26.50.
The board decided that we should have another fundraiser next year.
Portillo’s or stay with Lou Malnati’s?
We will need to start promoting the fundraiser earlier in the year.

NEW BUSINESS:
The handbook will be updated once Penny is back from vacation.
Karl will look into using St. Martin’s as a possible Saturday rehearsal space on November 11th.
There will be no pre-concert lecture before the December 2017 concert.
The board decided not to offer season tickets this year.
The board decided to keep the ticket prices the same this year. $25 Adults, $20 Students/Seniors

NEXT MEETING:
Our next Board Meeting will be Tuesday, October 10th, 2017, at First Congregational United Church of Christ.

ADJOURNMENT:
The Board Meeting was adjourned at 8:26 PM by a motion from Noreen LaValle and a second from David Hitch. The motion passed.
