CALL TO ORDER:
The October 2016 Board Meeting of the Northwest Choral Society was held on October 11, 2016 at Immanuel Lutheran Church 855 Lee Street Des Plaines, IL. The meeting was called to order at 6:35 PM by NWCS President Penny Perles. The following board members were present:

MEETING MINUTES:
- The meeting minutes from the August 9th meeting were reviewed. In the Meet and Greet section, the minutes will be amended to remove the statement about Jade giving voice lessons over the summer. Noreen LaValle made a motion to accept the August meeting minutes with the aforementioned correction. The motion was seconded by Mary Jane Matecki.
TREASURER’S REPORT:
- Noreen LaValle presented the treasurer’s report for August 2016. Cash disbursements totaled $1,228.26. Cash receipts totaled $5.01. Our regular account now has $14,362.54. Including petty cash, our final total was $14,397.54. Mary Jane Matecki made a motion to accept the treasurer’s report. The motion was seconded by David Hitch. The motion passed.
- Noreen LaValle presented the treasurer’s report for September 2016. Cash disbursements totaled $1,755.90. Cash receipts totaled $4,697. Our regular account now has $17,303.64. Including petty cash, our final total was $17,338.64. David Hitch made a motion to accept the treasurer’s report. The motion was seconded by Mary Jane Matecki. The motion passed.
ARTISTIC DIRECTOR:
- The men will be wearing red bowties and cummerbunds for the 2016 NWCS Christmas concert.
- Alan is currently looking for instrumentalists for the Christmas concert.
- Alan will be recording the Christmas concert.
PROMOTIONS:
- The surveys will only be included in the December program book. Surveys will be available at the ticket table at the other concerts.
- Diane sent in to the The Saints for our December concert
DONATIONS:
- From the September mailing of the donation letter, we received $525 from the donation envelopes. We also received 1 half match contribution from Pfizer.
- The donation letter was mailed out
- Addresses for the donor thank you notes will be given to Jamie Thompson
- Corporate Sponsors:
- Lipke-Kentex-Hesse, Inc has pledged $5,000
- David has a meeting with Glenview Bank about their possible sponsorship.
- The Corporate Sponsor guidelines were reviewed.
PUBLICITY:
- Tickets will be given to choir members by November 1st.
- Season Postcards were mailed on Monday August 8th.
- The press release has been sent out for the season.
- 2 different colored tickets will be printed for the December concert, 1 color for adult tickets and another for seniors/students.
- The Christmas concert poster and postcard have been sent to Harper Printing.
SUNSHINE:
- Flowers for Ann and Connie were delivered.
NEW BUSINESS:
- The search for a new rehearsal space is on-going.
- Penny will ask First Congregational about the space with risers. We would not be able to use the church for our Saturday rehearsals.
- The choir will be asked to suggest possible rehearsal spaces.
- Project Soothe the Soul will rehearse after NWCS rehearsal October 18th.
- We have canceled out involvement with the Symphony Center concert on Dec.17th because our placement upon on the 5th or 6th floor wasn’t a good spot for people to hear us.
- It was decided that NWCS will be participating in Windy City Festival March 16-18th, 2017. All rehearsals will occur at Symphony Center.
- Lucy Yester has left the choir.
- The 2016
-2017 Handbook has been added to the NWCS website. - Possible locations for the NWCS Christmas party: Andrew’s, El Sombrero or Lou Malnati’s.
NEXT MEETING:
- Our next Board Meeting will be Tuesday, January 10th, 2017, at First Congregational United Church of Christ.
ADJOURNMENT:
The Board Meeting was adjourned at 7:13 PM by a motion from Noreen LaValle and a second from Diane Szuberla. The motion passed.
