NORTHWEST CHORAL SOCIETY
MEETING MINUTES
CALL TO ORDER:
The September 2018 Board Meetings of the Northwest Choral Society were held on September 11th, 2018 and September 25th, 2018 at First Congregational United Church of Christ, 766 Graceland Ave. Des Plaines, IL.
The September 11th meeting was called to order at 6:35 PM by NWCS President Penny Perles. The following board members were present:

Also Present: Lori Mackie, Kevin Kelly
The September 25th meeting was called to order at 9:40 PM by NWCS President Penny Perles. The following board members were present:

Also Present: Lori Mackie, Kevin Kelly
MEETING MINUTES:
- The meeting minutes from May 8th, 2018 were reviewed. Noreen LaValle made a motion to accept the meeting minutes with no changes necessary. The motion was seconded by David Hitch. The motion passed.
- The meeting minutes from May 19th, 2018 were reviewed. Noreen LaValle made a motion to accept the meeting minutes with no changes necessary. The motion was seconded by Angela Carlson. The motion passed.
- The meeting minutes from July 18th, 2018 were reviewed. Lori Mackie made a motion to accept the meeting minutes with a few typos to be fixed. The motion was seconded by Mary Jane Matecki. The motion passed.
TREASURER’S REPORT:
- Noreen LaValle presented the treasurer’s report for July 2018. Cash disbursements totaled $1,171.44. Cash receipts totaled $0.00. Our regular account now has $25,473.43. Including petty cash, our final total was $25,508.43. Diane Szuberla made a motion to accept the treasurer’s report. The motion was seconded by Mary David Hitch. The motion passed.
- ïNoreen LaValle presented the treasurer’s report for August 2018. Cash disbursements totaled $1,784.55. Cash receipts totaled $10.53. Our regular account now has $23,699.41. Including petty cash, our final total was $23,734.41. Mary Jane Matecki made a motion to accept the treasurer’s report. The motion was seconded by Lori Mackie. The motion passed.
2018/2019 BUDGET:
- Noreen LaValle made a motion to accept the finalized July 2018 to June 2019 budget. The motion was seconded by Angela Carlson. The motion passed.
ARTISTIC DIRECTOR:
- September 11th: We need to recruit tenors and basses for the choir. Possibly post on Chicago Artist Resource or have an ad on local public radio.
- September 25th: Kevin would like to commission an arrangement of “If the stars were mine” by Melody Gardot for the June concert. The commission will be paid for with the commission donation fund. A motion was made by Mary Jane Matecki. The motion was seconded by Kristie Webb-Williams. The motion passed.
- We could offer discounted concert tickets to church members of the concert venues.
VENUES (September 25th):
- The March 2019 concert will be at Immanuel Lutheran in Palatine.
- The June 2019 concert will be at Our Lady of the Brook in Northbrook.
NEXT MEETING:
- Our next Board Meeting will be Tuesday, October 16th, 2018, at First Congregational United Church of Christ.
ADJOURNMENT:
The Board Meeting on September 11th was adjourned at 7:27 PM by a motion from Noreen LaValle and a second from Diane Szuberla. The motion passed.
The Board Meeting on September 25th was adjourned at 10:11 PM by a motion from Diane Szuberla and a second from Mary Jane Matecki. The motion passed.
