CALL TO ORDER:
The January 2018 Board Meeting of the Northwest Choral Society was held on January 8th, 2018 at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, 766 Graceland Ave. Des Plaines, IL. The meeting was called to order at 6:45 PM by NWCS President Penny Perles. The following board members were present:

MEETING MINUTES:
The meeting minutes from the August 8th meeting were reviewed and were approved with the following changes to be made: The date for the Saturday rehearsal should be updated to 11/18/17. Kristie Webb-Williams made a motion to accept the August meeting minutes with the aforementioned change. Mary Jane Matecki seconded the motion.
The meeting minutes from the October 10th meeting were reviewed and approved with no changes. Kristie Webb-Williams made a motion to accept the October meeting minutes. Mary Jane Matecki seconded the motion.
The meeting minutes from the November/December virtual meetings were reviewed and approved with no changes. Mary Jane Matecki made a motion to accept the November/December meeting minutes. Kristie Webb-Williams seconded the motion.
SEARCH COMMITTEE:
The search committee sent out letters to the candidates who were not selected as one of the finalists for June concert.
Each of the finalists will create their own program for the June concert consisting of jazz, pop, Broadway, movie or folk music. Each program will consist of 8 pieces, totaling 30 – 40 minutes.
The finalists will have a budget of $1,000 for guest musicians.
Finalists must send their music and title of their program to the council for approval by February 23rd.
PROMOTIONS:
The December 2017 concert was attended by 242 people and brought in $5,230.40.
The bake sale brought in $526 plus a $150 donation.
NEW BUSINESS:
Lori may need to change the Saturday rehearsal from May 19th to May 12th. She will check her schedule.
NWCS is not currently advertising for new members, however tenors and basses are always welcome.
Kristie will write a call for new tenors and basses for Facebook and Instagram.
Karl volunteered to be in charge of facilities for the next concert.
Mary Jane updated the website to include new photos and our Smile Amazon.
There will be fundraisers advertised at the April and June concerts. The April fundraiser will be around April 16th. The June fundraiser will be around June 4th.
Possible fundraiser locations will be Potbelly (April) and California Pizza Kitchen (June).
Bert and Ruta will be the men’s section leaders.
There will be a bake sale at the April concert.
NEXT MEETING:
Our next Board Meeting will be Tuesday, February 13th, 2018, at First Congregational United Church of Christ.
ADJOURNMENT:
The Board Meeting was adjourned at 7:30 PM by a motion from Mary Jane Matecki and a second from Kristie Webb-Williams. The motion passed.
