MEETING MINUTES
March 8, 2016
CALL TO ORDER:
The March, 2016 Board Meeting of the Northwest Choral Society was held at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church, 1095 Dempster/Thacker, Des Plaines, IL. The meeting was called to order at 6:35 PM by NWCS President Penny Perles. The following board members were present:

Also present: Alan Wellman, Artistic Director
MEETING MINUTES:
The meeting minutes of the February 9th Board Meeting were reviewed. No corrections were needed. David Hitch ade a motion to accept the minutes. The motion was seconded by Noreen LaValle. The motion passed.
TREASURER’S REPORT:
Noreen LaValle presented the treasurer’s report for February. Cash disbursements totaled $2,364.17. Cash receipts totaled $1898.00. Our regular balance is $16,418.08. Kelsey Green made a motion to accept the treasurer’s report. The motion was seconded by David Hitch. The motion passed.
CORRESPONDING SECTRETARY’S REPORT:
Mary Jane Matecki read an email from Barb Zeleny reporting on how she was doing after surgery.
MUSIC DIRECTORS REPORT:
- Everything is ready for the concert, musicians have been hired and tenor ringers have been hired.
- NWCS has been chosen to do two solo pieces before the concert with all participants in the festival.
PROMOTIONS:
- Diane Szuberla reported that the website was not working properly to order tickets for concert or anniversary dinner. Mary Jane Matecki will look into this.
- Tickets for concert are ready to hand out to members to sell.
- No “Saints” have volunteered to usher yet. Diane has arranged for ushers and Peggy will take tickets.
ADVERTISING COMMITTEE:
Kelsey Green will put a promotion for the 50th Anniversary on Facebook
DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE:
David Hitch had nothing to report
MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE:
Mary Jane had nothing to report
PUBLICITY:
Penny Perles reported that all publicity has been sent out.
FACEBOOK:
Kelsey Green and Robyn Waldman continue to post on our Facebook page. Kelsey reported that Robyn will be gone most of March and April.
WEBSITE:
Mary Jane will look into problems with buying tickets.
50TH ANNIVERSARY COMMITTEE:
- Penny Perles reported that Joan Behrens is looking into Lyric Tickets for the silent auction.
- Penny will be producing a program book for the Anniversary Dinner and Auction.
OLD BUSINESS:
- Penny Perles presented a picture of the pins to recognize years of participation in NWCS which Jennifer Bauer, Barb Stewart and Noreen LaValle worked on. Everyone liked it. The color of the jewels on the pin were not decided so Kelsey Green volunteered to help with that.
- David Hitch made a motion to give the committee $1500 dollars to pay for the pins. The motion was seconded by Diane Szuberla. The motion passed.
- Diane Szuberla informed the Board that she could not attend the Windy City Choral Festival.
NEW BUSINESS:
- Nomination Committee Chairman for Board members for 2016-17 Board was needed. Angela Carlson volunteered to take on the job.
- Members whose terms are up are Penny Perles, David Hitch, Ruta Veitmanis, Mary Jane Matecki, Diane Szuberla, Meredith Bechtel and Roby Waldman Borek.
NEXT MEETING:
Our next Board Meeting will be Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at 6:30 pm, before rehearsal at St. Martin’s.
ADJOURNMENT:
The Board Meeting was adjourned at 7:25 PM by a motion from Noreen and a second from David. The motion passed.
